Coach stops the school from calling for Jimmy when the original team takes the floor.
Jimmy says he’ll only play if the coach stays.
Coach gets kicked out intentionally to give the assistant (drunk) coach ‘Shooter’/Dennis Hopper a chance to win the game, and the team does win.
Right before the team executes ‘The Picket Fence” the drunk coach makes the joke not to “get caught watching the paint dry.”
When Ollie makes the free throws to take the team to state.
When ‘Shooter’/Dennis Hopper and his son make up in the hospital where he is drying out.
The converted church van that takes the team to state.
THE BEST MOMENT: when the team enters the
Indianapolis stadium and measures the court – I cry every time.
SECOND BEST: When the player calls out “
Hickory” as they exit the floor measuring scene.
Right before the game a player says “Let’s win this one for all the small schools that never had a chance to get here” and after the prayer, coach says: “I love you guys.”
At the last time out the players are not happy with the play called & Jimmy says “I’ll make it” and the coach says okay and changes the play.
‘Shooter’/Dennis Hopper jumping up and down on his hospital bed after the team wins.
The last scene where you are looking at the team picture and you hear the coach’s words: “I love you guys.”
Absolutely love this list! I lived most of my life as a Hoosier, so you know I love basketball, and I’ve driven by the dinky little schoolhouse/basketball court where most of the games shot in the movie took place.

Fantastic list! I am forever using “Hoosiers” quotes (being Indiana-bred myself), and my friends never have any idea what I’m talking about and look at me like I’m crazy. Two moments I would add: Gene Hackman – “I came here to do a job, and I did it to the best of my ability. I apologize for nothing.” And then, of course, “There’s two kinds of dumb….”
