A Marriage Should Only be Between A Red Herring and A President…
FYI: Red Herring
With our troops in Iraq, Afganistan and now on a border with our third world neighbors, with the deficit and spending at all time highs under the Republicans still in charge, with immigration stirred up to a boiling point, the President would like to introduce a an issue that is neither important nor timely ((unless you're trying to make Reps like good for mid-term elcetions)), but will divide our country into "us" and "them."
It will not get 2/3 votes in both House & Senate – - – this IS ONLY a distraction folks. The President is looking to bring the fundamentalists back into the government, just for the elections.

It is your opinion that it isn’t an important issue, I happen to think it is an important issue andf I just wish the Congress would have done what we elected them to do. Instead the liberals got their way one more time. They claim thta it is a state’s issue and because of activist judges undoing what the voters in states have voted for the Republicans were trying to pass an amendment so the activist judges can’t just legislate from the bench because they liberals don’t have the power that they want so dearly.
Do you think it is an important issue because the President thinks it is? It seems he only remembered this issues’ importance when the other news started looking bad; I think he last trotted this one out in ‘04?!
I think if no one was lobbying to keep me from marrying who I wanted to, no one else should be saved. I am offended by what some members of Congress are stating about homosexuals and I did not elect them to legislate love… most Liberals want to be left alone…. Conservatives seem to be trying to legislate every facet of daily life.
Remember back in April, 4% of people considered immigration an important issue.
El Presidente says jump, Republicans say “how high”. It’s all about legislating hatred, and there’s nobody better than the neocons.
I found several posts on your blog that I agreed with, but quite frankly, my eyes found the print hard to read. And the gray comments on a gray background are all but impossible for me to read. I’d like to come back some time, and spend more time reading here, whether I agree with you or not, because you don’t seem to be ranting.
I would like to invite you to join our brand new, family friendly BLOG VILLAGE TopList. I think your blog would be a great addition, as we do not have any political blogs in the mix, yet.
You can find out more about it at http://blogvillage.dirtybutter.com .
Gosh! Does the President call up the Senate and say, “I need something to distract the American People. Put something on the agenda today that will stir up the Right Wing Fundimentalists.”?
Is that how it really works? They wouldn’t schedule this stuff well in advance without the President’s input would they?
There is a separation of powers that the Senate likes to keep in place. They would lose power if they allow the President to jump in like you suggest. Name one Senator that does not love his power.
This “Hate Bush” and “Bush is hiding behind every Bush” paranoid diatribe is getting old and tired.
It would be different if you folks would admit even once in a blue moon that Bush has done something right but according to you folks he can’t even sneeze correctly.
The left has lost it and this post is a perfect example of that fact.
P.S. I too think this issue is important not because it is ‘mean to homosexuals’ but because the definitions of words should not be changed to satisfy one small group of people. (Or even a large group if it comes to that.) – Lawyers and activist judges will be having a field day if we allow this nation to go that route.
The President is the lead Republican & he is prepping those who affiliate with Republicans by trotting this ole dog out. Why wouldn’t the others in the Congress wnat to jump on the provided bandwagon?
Marriage tradition does not equal marriage definition…a Constitutional amendment via the Rep. is trying to define something that has not been defined by our government before.
