Himno Nacional Americano, Doesn’t Count?
In fact, it sounds like you might be a commie if you think it is okay to pay tribute to my country in any language the majority of her citizens don't speak…..
Bush says: "I think the national anthem ought to be sung in English, and I think people who want to be a citizen of this country ought to learn English, and they ought to learn to sing the national anthem in English."
Xenophobe?
The people we are most at odds with in this country are people from an adjacent third world nation that dream first, then travel here and then learn the language……Does the president know that this is NOT all about those Spanish in Europe trying to get in? (I kinda wonder now…someone pointed that out to him, right?)
I thought this bandwagon had run it's course……I hope a lot of people turn out Monday for the protest. I am saddened to hear that of the roughly 13% hispanic population near me not many are predicted to strike Monday.
National Take Your Child Out-of-School Day
(AKA: 180 – 1 Days of Instruction)
35% average attendance in my classes today.
When it was daughters, there was something useful……now, a legalized skip day, often to "stay home with my mom & babysit" – taken from an actual application turned into my school.
Friendly Signs in my Hometown
This sign has been up for days at a local FF place…..
Anyone else feeling at little cussed at by it?
As an aside, how did "MFing" get to be a description of how good something is??
Science Questions every Christian Should Know the Answer to…..OMG…..
Chuckles to Jeffrey Holt of Life in the Banana Patch – Good Times Jeff!
1. What percentage of the earth is covered by water?
71%, This is not Bible based, but mathematically based, therefore not a fact, but a theory.
2. What sorts of signals does the brain use to communicate sensations, thoughts and actions?
Prayer.
3. Did dinosaurs and humans ever exist at the same time?
Since dinosaurs, like domestic cats, are not mentioned in the Bible, no.
4. What is Darwin's theory of the origin of species?
Fiction.
5. Why does a year consist of 365 days, and a day of 24 hours?
The number of days is not mentioned in the Bible, and is therefore a creation of Man, and is therefore a theory. It takes 24 hours for the sun to orbit the Earth.
6. Why is the sky blue?
It's God's favorite color.
7. What causes a rainbow?
God. It's his promise to flood the Earth again. Unless there's Global Warming.
8. What is it that makes diseases caused by viruses and bacteria hard to treat?
They are the work of Satan, and only God can defeat Satan.
9. How old are the oldest fossils on earth?
6000 years.
10. Why do we put salt on sidewalks when it snows?
Man developed this theory that salt lowers the freezing point of water, melting ice. Since the exact mechanics are not mentioned in the Bible, it is not a fact.
Extra credit: What makes the seasons change?
God.
“Rubber Ducky, You’re the One….”

Brilliant really, while a G-Man somewhere covers his ass incase some stuff really does go down again I can't get the Rubber Ducky song outta my head!
I Heart Pink
Great Post – wish I had posted it first!
Love these lines:
"No child is left behind
We're not dumb and we're not blind
They're all sitting in your cells
While you pave the road to hell
What kind of father would take his own daughter's rights away
And what kind of father might hate his own daughter if she were gay
I can only imagine what the first lady has to say
You've come a long way from whiskey and cocaine"
Tivo My Child’s Birth, I am watching L&O
Well, I don't use "Tivo," but it is the verb of description for the digital recording og TV it seems. I couldn't believe my DH wanted to spend that much money on the HP Media Center, but God help the lunatic that ever tries to wrestle the remote outta my hands!
I have went nuts with the scheduled to record option.
Daily? Days of our Lives (once just a luxury viewing on Soapnet, now a compulsion a kin to when I was 13 in the summer
Weekly? Law & Orders (CI, SVU and original – as long as it is new – recently I have started on some old CI & SVU too), Doctor Who (new BBC production takes me back to my PBS-ladened youth), Survivor, The Apprentice, Jon Stewart, Desparate Housewives, Grey's Anatomy, often Seinfeld – and I've seen them all a million times, various space shows, many History Channel specials, and the ocassional random show.
It is a minor miracle I get one damn thing done.
Back in Jan/Feb my cousin moved mt TV & Media Center out of a room to drywall & I said I'd be okay without the TV for awhile. Thank God he didn't listen to me I would have gone mad by now. Sure I would have my Master's Thesis done, house clean & repaired, World Peace achieved, but if I didn't know what was happening in Salem, there'd be Hell to Pay!
Really? Well, if you want to….

If people are willing to put up with each other, who cares? After all, do gays have more right to happiness than us?
Googled
Just to keep up on things….I googled myself. Just "First Last," but I am fascinating!
For Starters:
I am an artist in Iowa, a realtor, an online instructor (which is actually true), was recently on an NPR broadcast as the Preston, Idaho Chamber of Commerce director that's holding a Napoleon Dynamite festival – I would so do that, June 24 & 25th, a broker, a doctor, a geneologist, a Phoenix-area artist, executive director of a Luthern camp in Ohio – I would so not do that, was an animal control officer – retired though, recommened one stop djs, and teach at many schools – elem/middle/high/college.
I am an American, a Canadian and a Swede.
When I Google my maiden name I am a hell of a big deal photographer from Wellington, New Zealand.
Truthfully, my shopping blog came up, online class came up and my primary school job came up….I am on the grid, but lost amongst the minutia…
Well….where are you on the road to self-revelation?
The Next Generation May Be Safe…
Oh, you know those days when you forget to eat lunch at school?
(really, I can only count those on one hand, for my career) I just had two back to back….. on my way home I had to decide between stopping for a six pack or checking old purses for my xanax. I made the right decision.
One drama involved academic dishonety. DO NOT let me relive the details. The perpetrator is PD versus LD and will hopefully outgraw his PD when he turns 18 or finishes HS. A facet of his PD is that nothing is ever his fault, he does not make mistakes & it is always someone else's fault. This student has had multiple incidents and his PD continues to impede his learning his lesson. The day it occurred and I was questioning him something happened that gave me HOPE. Not that he had overcome his PD, but that other students were learning a lesson from him. One student confronted him saying that 'yes,' indeed he was being dishonest. Another student, whom I am so proud of I could burst, walked over to him and took the paper, ripped it up and threw it in the trash! He was so upset/disturbed/pissed by the continual drama repeating itself yet again while he and others lost instructional time he just took matters into his own hands.
Well, the proof suffered as a result, but this one wasn't about catching the cheater – until his PD is resolved he will not be okay. The real victory today was that some of my leaders in my class took charge & holy cow did they ever!!!!!
